TeamLivy Update #1<\/strong>\u00a0: June 6, 2016
\nThis is my first update on my journey with you!<\/p>\n

Skiing’s Off-Season is Soccer’s In-Season<\/h5>\n

If you are a high school student in the Vail Valley, and your school is not associated with its own sports team, you can choose to play your sport of choice at whichever school you like. Since I love to play soccer, I\u2019ve chosen to play for the past two years at\u00a0Vail Mountain School<\/a>! I play soccer during the two month break between the end of my ski season (beginning of April) to the beginning of summer preparations (end of May), which helps me to clear my mind from skiing so that when I return to everyday training, I am fresh and ready to focus. I finished up my soccer season with VMS by\u00a0winning our second straight 2A State Championship<\/a>. We had the amazing opportunity to play in Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods Park in Denver, where the Colorado Rapids play their home games during their soccer season.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

VAIL MOUNTAIN SCHOOL – 2016 2A STATE CHAMPIONS<\/h6>\n

Even though winning State Championships is an added bonus, the fantastic coaches and players that I have the privilege to be coached by and play alongside make the entire experience that much better. Each and every one of my coaches and teammates have welcomed me into their community, even despite the fact that I don\u2019t attend VMS. In addition to this, I know that the values that I have learned throughout my past two seasons playing with VMS will continue to serve me throughout the rest of my life, both on and off the field.<\/p>\n

First Year of Stanford OHS is a Wrap<\/h5>\n

Also, during the past few weeks, I finished up my first year at\u00a0Stanford University Online High School.<\/a>\u00a0This was an amazing experience, due to both the rigor and quality of the curriculum, as well as the flexibility that the program offers since my classroom is my laptop! Without Stanford OHS, my year of traveling and skiing while continuing to stay on top of schoolwork would have been a whole lot more challenging.<\/p>\n

DEER VALLEY WORLD CUP – FROM CLASS WITH STANFORD OHS TO TRAINING<\/h6>\n

I cannot commend the program enough for the superior education that they\u2019ve given me and their willingness to work with my schedule in order to make sure that each and every scholar (including myself) has the best learning experience possible. My last week of the academic year and soccer season marked the end of a chapter, one that I enjoyed greatly; but this past week has signified the start of a new segment in my life: the US Ski Team!<\/p>\n

Start of a New Segment: The US Ski Team<\/h5>\n

My first week of training with the\u00a0US Ski Team<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0this past week took place in Park City, Utah, the home of the US Ski Team!! In June, My family and I have moved from Vail to Park City in order to help me pursue my skiing dream! I really enjoy being a part of the US Ski Team full time, as well as living in one of my favorite places in the country! This move is definitely my favorite so far! Over the course of my first week of training with the US Ski Team, the majority of it consisted of water ramping!<\/p>\n

UTAH OLYMPIC PARK – THE US SKI TEAM WATER RAMPING FACILITY<\/h6>\n

For those of you who don\u2019t know, water ramping is when I jump off of a ramp made of wood and plastic bristles on my skis, and do the tricks I\u2019m working on into a pool of water below! This is an integral part of any mogul skier\u2019s training: it provides a higher level of safety to try out new aerial maneuvers before taking them to snow! I have one more week of water ramping and strength training before boarding a flight to my first on-snow camp of the summer in Whistler, British Columbia! I am SO excited for what\u2019s to come this summer!!!<\/p>\n
